Igloo would also like to thank Emma, Mags and Jill at Screen Ireland, Michael Algar and Adrienne Michel-Long as this short wouldn’t have happened without them.

Hey! And hope you are all doing well and not getting too cold all of a sudden like we are here in Igloo after having a scorching lovely summer.
We have been mad busy in here and have a good few things to show you all. One of which is a clip from our new TV show in development titled Old Irish Tales, which will be a 10 X 11 minute animated series for the family and in Irish. Below is a clip from one of the stories The Whistle Player and the Puca. This is done using mixed media – so puppets, photo’s, 2d animation and live action all mixed together. This was funded by Screen Ireland.
Old Irish Tales displays Irish fantasy storytelling at its best and presented through animation. We will see, our history, our myths, our Irishness, Puca’s and Banshees! With wit, magic and pure unadulterated spookyness, we hope Old Irish Tales will be the next “must see” series. This show will be an Igloo Animations production joined by award winning writer Marina Carr.

Happy 2018 Summer everybody and hope you are all doing well.
We have been up to so many exciting things lately and 2018 has already been our best year to date. First up is FANTASY IRELAND, an Irish Adult Animated Comedy TV Series that we have just finished developing with the help of IFB funding and the Awesome people at the Irish Film Board. It’s by far the most fun we have had at Igloo in the last few years. I can’t show you everything, but I can show you the trailer which is below. Enjoy.
What’s it about ? FANTASY IRELAND is an outrageous post-watershed animated comedy series set in a fantastical version of contemporary Ireland (mixed with a dollop of Irish mythology). We follow three flatmates living in Rathmines who are flung together to form The Shamz – the new unwitting saviours of Ireland sent to save us from ourselves and more importantly a greedy priest hell-bent on setting us back fifty years!

Our Short Film DEPOSITS, continues to be screened at festivals both in Ireland and abroad. It was just awarded Special Mention at the Dublin Sci-Fi Film Festival and will be screened next at The Fastnet Film Festival in the fishing village of Schull on the south-west coast of Ireland at the end of May.
______________________________________________________________________________
We have also just been awarded developing funding for another TV series OLD IRISH TALES from the IFB. It’s 13 X 7 minute animated series for the family. Each story will be adapted from their original tales, BUT, changed for the screen and tailored to suit modern day story formatting.

We are also currently in production of some Animated Explanation Videos for ESBI and ARC Cancer support. For more information on Animated Explanation Videos, please visit www.GimmeTheShortVersion.com

The HSE Book that we have illustrated Tom’s Flower Power – A gentle explanation to how babies are made has just been launched. So if you have small children I am sure you will come across this book at some stage.

Happy 2018 Everyone and hope you are all doing well.
OK, before I go through the Igloo news, first things first: We have made an animated video that explains how you can do your bit to stop plastics destroying our oceans. Some of you like myself, may have seen the Blue Planet 2 episode that opened our eyes about the drastic effects that plastics have on our oceans – which is SHOCKING to say the least.
To help get the message out there, please share this video and if you want to embed it on your website or show it in schools, please do – you Do Not need our permission, it’s Free to use – Just click on the image below.

Very recently, we have received some funding from the Irish Film Board to bring our Adult Animated Comedy Show FANTASY IRELAND to its final stages of development, which is Awesome!
So, what’s it all about?
We join flatmates; CIARA, JAY and TONY, three unwitting everyday heroes who are tasked to protect Ireland. They must to do battle with the greedy, power obsessed FR. MURPHY and his sidekick, the mischievous gold loving Leprechaun FLATLEY who are hell bent on sucking our island dry of its wealth and wellbeing!
_________________________________________________________________________________
Our Short Film Deposits, has been also selected for Animation Dingle and the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, which is great because it’s an Oscar qualifying festival, so fingers crossed 🙂
_________________________________________________________________________________
Our next short film is titled THE TALE OF TWO HUMPS. It’s about two brothers that have been born with big old cursed humps on their backs. They both take opposite attitudes towards life, which leads them to different fortunes.

Hey everyone!
I hope all is well? The obvious (and best) news is that so far this summer is hotter than last summer, which is awesome!
Right now we are developing a new show titled FANTASY IRELAND, which is an animated comedy series set in a fantastical, dysfunctional version of contemporary Dublin. Each episode is based around an abstract version of modern Ireland mixed with fragments of Irish mythology combined with hilarious off-the-cuff banter. Mick O’Hara and Ciaran Morrison are the writers on board and the show will be directed by myself. See a short clip below.
The world premiere of our short film DEPOSITS made under the Irish Film Board’s SHORT STORIES film scheme will take place at the 2017 Galway Film Fleadh. If anyone is attending, please let us know and come say hello. See the trailer below and to find out more on the Short Stories film scheme, see the Irish Film Boards website here: https://goo.gl/oNB8oi
Deposits is an Igloo Animations production, directed by Trevor Courtney, written by Adrienne Michel-Long, produced by Michael Algar and funded by the Irish Film Board.
The screening time for Deposits is 12pm in Galway’s Town Hall on Saturday 15th July. If you are going, make sure you get your tickets soon. This will sell out very quickly! http://www.galwayfilmfleadh.com
Final stages of production on the HSE’s book on the Body, Human Reproduction and Growing-up are now underway.
Here is 2nd video we have produced for Genomics Medicine Ireland. It’s a Study Participation video using our very own Gimme The Short Version service – http://gimmetheshortversion.com/
And, last thing – we have also moved offices to a new bright and beautiful location. It’s a top floor office that overlooks Trinity College on Leinster Street South – Not Bad!
OK, That’s about it for the moment and let’s hope the weather holds up for the rest of the summer. Enjoy the holidays and hopefully see a few of you in Galway.
Very Best,
Trevor Courtney
